Taking Care of Our Lungs…

Respiratory nurses will attest to the importance of being able to take long, deep breaths in order to clear toxic build-up in the lungs. 

Today, with what we are facing this is so important for those with lung symptoms, as well as for a preventive strategy to protect our lungs. Viruses do not like oxygen and prefer stagnant environments!

Here is a powerful way to improve oxygenation, reduce lung inflammation, remove toxins, activate your Central Nervous System, and bring a lovely sense of calm to your body and mind. 

Find someplace comfortable to sit with your back supported. Take a long, slow, deep breath in through your nostrils to a count of five…paying attention to the expanding of your abdomen and rib cage, and filling your lungs. 

Hold there for another count of five. 

Now slowly exhale through your mouth to a count of 10…paying attention to the contracting of your abdominal muscles and rib cage as you release the breath from your lungs. Repeat ten times. 

Practice this every day. If you notice yourself holding your breath throughout the day, remember to take a deep breath!
