Try adding some Epsom salt to your next bath. Cheap and easy to find, not only will it promote muscle relaxation, but it also encourages detoxification. Epsom salt provides your body with two necessary minerals that make this possible: magnesium and sulfur.
Magnesium is easily depleted by sugar consumption, so many people in today’s world are severely deficient, thus experiencing symptoms such as muscle cramps, sleeplessness, and anxiety.
Sulfur is critical to the liver’s detoxification mechanisms, helping to bind and excrete toxins. This mineral also plays an important role in glucose metabolism, so sufficient intake helps ward off excess weight.
So why should we bathe in Epsom salt instead of just ingesting magnesium and sulfur in our foods?
- Our foods are being grown in mineral-depleted soils, so they don’t contain as many minerals as they once did.
- These minerals are readily absorbed by the skin and used more efficiently in the body than if consumed orally.
