Detoxing is a very hot topic these days. There are detox diets which include a plethora of juices, smoothies, shakes, soups, tonics, teas, and salads. These detox “diets” promise quick fixes for just about anything. But is it really the best way to detox?

What is detoxing?

Detoxing is your body’s natural process of flushing out toxins and eliminating other waste. The body does this through urine, feces, sweat and even through your breath. Even if you don’t put concerted effort into detoxing, your body will still do it. However, the body’s detox organs- the skin, lungs, kidneys, liver, and colon- sometimes get bogged down by a poor diet, and need a little help. That’s where “doing a detox” can come into play.

How do I know if I need to detox?

There are many symptoms you can look for to determine if your body is not detoxing properly, and thus need to help it do so. These symptoms are warning signs that your body’s detox organs aren’t functioning as they are supposed to.

  • Low energy
  • Sugar cravings
  • Bloating
  • Digestive issues
  • Fatigue
  • Moodiness
  • Skin issues

What’s the best way to detox?

The best way to detox isn’t through some drastic fast or juice-only diet. Instead, it’s best to do it slowly, while supporting your body’s detoxification pathways. Following a gentler approach to detoxing will bring your body back to it’s natural state of being and keep it there. It’s important for our bodies to detox every day, not just for a week each year.

Focusing on nutrient-dense foods, which provide the body with essential vitamins and minerals, will nourish your body from within; thus allowing it to declutter the toxins in the body in an appropriate way.

Green smoothies and detox juices, salads, and soups are all excellent foods to include while helping your body to detox because they are often made with real, whole foods. Just make sure you’re not restricting your food intake to only those things.

The Pure Reset Diet is designed to be a detox plan while healing your detoxification systems. PRD includes IG postBy lessening the toxic load on the body with the removal of processed foods, and focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods instead, the body is able to resume its proper functioning, including detoxification.
