Improve your oral health with this excellent daily detoxifier: oil pulling.

Since our mouth is the gateway to the rest of our body, it’s important to keep it clean. A lack of good oral hygiene has been correlated with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and inflammation. Oil pulling is a great way to detoxify your mouth and can potentially ward off these and other conditions.

It’s fairly simple to do but might take some work to get used to it and work up to the recommended 20 minutes at a time. Start with a spoonful of coconut oil and put it in your mouth allowing it to melt. Add a little more if you don’t feel like it’s enough to swish around in your mouth. Begin swishing the coconut oil just like mouthwash. Continue to do this for as long as you’re able to, working up to 20 minutes.

Some tips:

🔹Do NOT swallow the oil! Instead, spit the oil into a trashcan or a glass instead of the sink. Since the oil now contains toxins that it has pulled from your mouth and body, you do not want to put down the drain. Plus, coconut oil can clog your pipes when it cools and hardens.

🔹It’s best and sometimes easiest to oil pull before you eat anything in the morning. Some people have reported it upsets their empty stomach; however, I’ve had success doing it at various times of day.

🔹After you spit out the oil, use warm water to rinse out your mouth and also lightly brush your teeth to remove any film. Oil pulling is also great for whitening your teeth, reducing plaque, fighting gum disease, and pulling out any toxins in your mouth. Give it a try and let me know about your results! [end]
