Did you know….

Conventional deodorants are harmful to your body in many ways. Anti-perspirant’s contain a handful of toxic chemicals that are not ideal for human consumption. Each day, we apply these chemicals to our bodies unknowingly as a way to avoid sweat and body odor. Little do we know, these trace amounts can build up over time, and are linked to different forms of cancer, tumors, bronchial issues, and other health related problems.

According to the National Cancer Society, “Reports have suggested that these products contain harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast.”

Since our skin is our biggest organ and absorbs everything it comes into contact with, it is important to put natural, chemical free products on it. To read more about common toxins in deodorants and why they are bad for you, check out this article.

The solution: Aluminum-free, Natural deodorant

Many of you may be wondering, “If I don’t use antiperspirants, won’t I sweat a ton and smell horrible?? What deodorants should I be buying instead? What are my options?” I have personally asked myself these questions before and have some funny, helpful, and interesting stories to share.

I learned about the chemicals in deodorants about a year ago and have been searching for the best product since then. My first decision was to switch to all-natural aluminum free deodorant such as these, but found that they ALL still made me stinky! I am quite active, running about 3-5 days a week, love to do yoga, and enjoy lifting on my own time; AKA: I get pretty sweaty. The unfortunate thing about the all natural deodorants I tried, and you may have had a similar experience, was that they smelled amazing and worked immediately upon application, but as my workout continued or the day dragged on, I would start to smell a mix of half essential oils – half body odor. Definitely not ideal.

Moving forward, I wasn’t sure what to do. Avoid harmful chemicals but smell like a mix of lavender and BO, or go back to the chemical filled deodorants I was using before so as not to smell? I decided to stick with the natural deodorant, but applied it multiple times a day. But then another problem came about. I kept getting ingrown hairs in my arm pits and the deodorant would burn if I put it on after shaving… For obvious reasons, these natural deodorants were simply NOT working. In my mind I was choosing between the lesser of two evils once again: deal with ingrown hairs, BO, and burning, or put clinically proven cancer-related chemicals on my body…

After about a year of wrestling with deodorants, I can honestly say I have FINALLY found a natural deodorant that is everything I have been searching for.

A few weeks ago, Donna came into the office with boxes full of new Pure N Well skincare products, one of which was a natural deodorant. She handed one to me and offered me to try it after boasting about the product and saying that she had gone on a 10 mile run and didn’t even stink after! I questioned her (don’t tell her that.. 😉 ) but gladly took the product and was excited to test it out! Needless to say, I didn’t sweat nearly as much, and I didn’t experience the infamous half BO-half essential oils smell!

I honestly didn’t think I was going to find a deodorant that would do the job I was looking for, but this deodorant is truly amazing in all ways. It smells great, works amazing, and lasts extremely long. I would suggest anyone and everyone to buy it, and can guarantee you will be happy with the outcome.
