Okay, friends…just in time for the holidays: here’s a Paleo Hot Chocolate recipe!!! This is one of Vicki’s favorites and you’re going to love the holiday magic it brings into your life this winter!
It’s super easy and you can easily adjust the ingredients to suit your taste and adapt to your personal needs. Plus, we’re going to share a life-hack that you will definitely appreciate if you’re a NutriClear fan!
Are you ready? Here’s how to make it:
Paleo Hot Chocolate Recipe
Serves 1
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened dairy-free milk (almond, coconut, or your favorite)
- 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder (you can start with 2 tsp and see if you need the third one based on your preference)
- 1 tsp Truvia or a drop or two of liquid Stevia (adjust for your personal taste)
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Coconut whipped cream – see recipe here
Choose a fun addition if you’d like: 1 drop of peppermint essential oil (see Note below) or a drop of peppermint extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions
- Gently heat your dairy-free milk of choice over medium heat, then whisk in the raw cacao powder, your sweetener, and the vanilla extract until everything is well combined, steamy and frothy. If you’re using the peppermint essential oil, stir it in at the last minute. NOTE: if you have a tendency toward GERD, use peppermint extract rather than the essential oil.
- Pour into a festive mug and top with your coconut whipped cream! If you haven’t used the peppermint essential oil and would prefer cinnamon, you can either sprinkle the cinnamon into your hot cocoa or on top of your coconut whipped cream!
- Enjoy!!
By the way, you can easily double the recipe if you’re making this to share.
Remember the life-hack mentioned earlier? Here you go: if you’re trying to use Nutri Clear as a shake in the mornings and it’s just not working for you when the weather outside is wintry, you can actually stir your two scoops of NutriClear powder into your hot chocolate!
Follow these tips to help you make this the most enjoyable:
- Be aware that if you’re already using Chocolate or Plain NutriClear, there is sweetener in the powder so you probably won’t need to add as much sweetener.
- If you’re using the Chocolate NutriClear, you would use less cacao powder.
- If you’re using NutriClear Free, you will need to add cacao powder and sweetener gradually and taste as you go to achieve the flavor that works best for you.
- Since you’re adding two scoops of powder, you might need to add extra dairy free milk or a little water so that this doesn’t become too thick!
- Keep a spoon handy to stir as you sip; this will help your hot chocolate drink stay smooth and not overly grainy from the powder.
You’re welcome!!
Be Well,
